A Year in the Making: Andy and Jenna

I had the great pleasure of doing an engagement session with a good friend of mine from high school and his fiance. It took over a year to finally coordinate a date and I am so happy to have been able to work with them. Let me tell you the story…

Jenna came to me wondering about an engagement shoot about a hear and a half ago. I was more than thrilled she even thought of me and liked my work. We worked out a time when I would be back in Connecticut to go over the paperwork and in the mean time we exchanged many emails back and forth about what her ideas where and the location and many other things. We decided on Mystic Connecticut, as it was one of their first dates. They went to Mystic Pizza and Drawbridge Ice Cream, if you are from Connecticut or know Mystic at all you know those are very popular places.

So we decide on a date and some locations and each of us perused the internets for photos that resembled our vision for the shoot; it was great having everyone on the same page and willing to do some research. While these emails are going around Jenna is going back and forth between Connecticut and Texas, and ultimately stays in Texas for an extended period of time; which doesn’t allow her to come back to Connecticut for our scheduled date. I never lost hope, and really wanted to do this as I had a ton of ideas, including ice cream and the ring and many other things.

Well it finally worked out and we went down while Jenna was back for a wedding and I was able to make it down from Maine. The shoot was amazing and through the whole process I wanted to make sure that both Andy, who was a good sport, and Jenna were happy with the photos. Also, trying to incorporate both of their personalities into the shoot. Andy is really passionate about his car and has done most of the modifications to it so I thought it would be a great thing to use in the shoot.

Needless to say many of the things we had planned, and brought for props, were never used but the images were totally a representation of these two great people. Just goes to show you that all the planning in the world can only help you and you need some wingin’-it skills to be able to think on the fly. I am so happy for the two of them and hope they visit often from Texas as that is where they are going to end up.
