Well I had another photo shoot with the great people of PortSports, who I havewritten about before. I have had several ideas for this organization and we were able to all get together to tackle one of the ideas I had.
My initial thought was to use the sports equipment in their portraits that can be used on their website and for avatars on social media pages. It took a lot of planning and it expanded into many different themes based on what PortSports does for activities and sports leagues. I was going for silly and keeping it simple with expressions being the focus. I had informed my subjects of what I had intended to get before hand and they were more than willing to step up and brought their own personal flair to this idea.
We only had the space, which was a school gym for an hour and a half so planning was important and we were shooting up until the last minute. With the time restraint, I felt a little rushed and could have been more strict with my shot list. Being somewhat of a perfectionists; really, what photographer/visual artist isn’t, I thought about many things that I could have done differently during the shoot. Those self criticisms have been noted so they can be applied to the next shoot; not dwelling on them has been be detrimental to my creative process, though not as much now. Although, analysis can be important for growth. It also helped me to have a great group of people who were willing to get silly for the camera and to make my ideas come alive. Now I will stop rambling so you can see what we did.
